I loved this book. LOVED it. It’s filled with adventure, magic and it’s super interesting! The writing is amazing, I felt immersed in the story, and I felt like I actually knew the characters as well as Eragon. I think that mostly older kids (10+) would like this book, it uses larger words and is a bit complicated.

WARNING!!! SPOILER ALERT!!

Eragon is a fifteen year old boy who lives with his uncle and cousin on a farm near the village, Carvahall. He was left there by his mother when he was born. While hunting, he finds a mysterious blue stone; thinking that it’s probably worth some money, he takes it home. Imagine, Eragon’s surprise when that very stone hatches a dragon. He raises the dragon secretly until two of the Ra’zac attack Carvahall. Eragon escapes and he, Brom, and Saphira travel all around. Finally they end up where they want to be, with the Varden. (The rebellion against the evil king and his empire.) Along the way, there is sorrow, loss, adventure and camaraderie. Eragon isn’t sure if any of the people from his village, who he grew up with, are still alive. They have suffered so many losses…. but, was it worth it? Did the Varden really matter so much? Read the book to find out!

SPOILERS OVER!

When I first started Eragon I was in 2nd Grade and I didn’t like it at all. The beginning of the book is a bit slow, and my second grade self did not appreciate that, I wanted the adventure first. So I quit. I just stopped reading the book and moved on. But the next year, I was convinced by my dad that I should try reading it again, and this time keep reading even if I got bored by it. Since re-trying I have re-read the book more than 5 times (which is not that small, the book is pretty big) and loved it more each time. After reading the book, I realized that some books take time. You sometimes have to commit, and they get better the farther in you go.
