Reading and me

I have just finished 4th grade and am going into 5th and I absolutely LOVE reading!!!! But I didn’t always….

When I was in kindergarten I was the only kid in my class who couldn’t read and I was not happy about that. I asked my mom to teach me how to read but I didn’t realize what that actually meant. It meant that I had to read three books a day and it didn’t matter how long it took, thankfully the books were tiny like tiny tiny, they were called “Bob Books” and they helped a lot. But, I hated them...! I would get super frustrated and sometimes even cry…I was 5!!! I finally could read but only small books. I slowly started to read bigger books, like chapter books and more.

One day my aunt started to read me the Harry Potter series and I was hooked! I soon started reading the series myself. My love for reading was born! Since then I read over 100 books a year. I have scored over a thousand AR points for 3 years in a row. (If you know what AR is.) I am also proud that I have inspired many kids in my school to set similar goals. I started writing this blog so I could inspire other kids to become readers and learn to share my love of reading!
